2-14 General Description

USING YOUR TAPE BLADE

This section describes the basic operation of the Tape Blade.
The power of the Tape Blade is automatically controlled in linkage with the power of CPU blade. Refer to
the manual that comes with your CPU blade for power on/off of the Tape Blade.

Power-on of Tape Blade

The power of the Tape Blade is automatically controlled in linkage with the power of the connected CPU
blade. Refer to the manual that comes with your CPU blade to power on the Tape Blade.
IMPORTANT:
the use of the POWER switch or the remote power-on after the period of 30
seconds or longer has passed from the supply of AC power to CPU blade and
Tape Blade. The POWER lamps on CPU blade and Tape Blade go on amber if
they are powered on. The power-on operation within the period of 30 seconds
from the supply of AC power to them may not turn on the power of the CPU
blade. If so, turn on the power of the CPU blade by using the POWER switch
after making sure that the AC power is supplied to CPU blade and Tape Blade.
NOTES:
When the Tape Blade is powered on, a self test is performed on LTO drive
for approximately one minute. During self test, all LEDs and SCD on LTO
drive are lit or blink.
When self test completes, Ready LED goes on green, and indication on
SCD disappears.
If a power cord on the Blade Enclosure is connected to a power controller
including an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), make sure that the power
of the power controller is turned on.

Power-off of Tape Blade

The power of the Tape Blade is automatically controlled in linkage with the power of the connected CPU
blade. Refer to the manual that comes with your CPU blade to power off the Tape Blade.
