Slide the black movable flange onto the
spindle and into the end of the roll paper
until it fixes into place.

Change the tension of the spindle as
necessary.
N: Normal tension
H: High tension
Caution:

You need to use the appropriate tension
according to the roll paper. See the following
section for information on the spindle tension. If
you use the wrong tension, the print may be
marred or the printer may be damaged.

Note:
We recommend that you switch the tension to high
tension when using roll paper other than Epson's
special paper, such as cloth or thin roll paper of less
than 100 g/m2. In this case, paper is fed in smaller
increments than usual. Increase the Paper Feed
Adjustment value in the Custom Paper menu.
If you print with normal tension, wrinkles may appear
in the paper when printing continuously. For details,
refer to the handling instructions of the roll paper.
If wrinkles appears while using plain roll paper, set the
tension to high tension. You can reduce wrinkles on
the paper when using high tension.

Loading roll paper

To load roll paper, follow the steps below.
Note:
❏ When REMAINING PPR SETUP is ON, the barcode
(including the paper information) is printed on
the roll paper edge before the paper is remove. This
will facilitate paper setting the next time the same
paper is used.
See "PAPER SETUP" on page 23.
❏ We recommend that you load the roll paper
immediately before printing. If the paper roll is
left in the printer, the roller for securing the paper
may leave a mark on the surface of the paper.

Open the roll paper cover.

With the fixed paper stopper (gray) on the
right, pick up the paper roll and place it in
the paper roll holder. Then move the paper
roll to the right.
Warning:

The paper roll is heavy so have two people
pick it up by the paper stoppers at both
ends.
