Settign Procedure

Preparation

■ Network Configuration Process
To provide support for the machine via network as in SMS, you must configure the network setting from the Touch Panel of the
machine. (The setting is set to [ON] by default)
1. After pressing [Settings/Registration], select [Preferences] > [Network] > [TCP/IP Settings] > [Use HTTP] and then
press [ON].
NOTE:
• On this machine, the items under [Network] of the [Settings/Registration] screen are grayed out unless you have logged in
as administrator.
Return to the top screen, press [Login] at the lower left corner of the screen, and log in as system administrator to configure
the setting.
By default, the User Name is "Administrator", Password "764321," and Login Destination "This Device".
• To use TLS, press [Settings/Registration], select [Management Settings] > [License/Other] > [MEAP Settings] > [Use TLS],
and then press [ON]. (This setting is also applied to the TLS setting on remote UI and vice versa; if this setting is set to ON
on remote UI, it is applied to the Touch Panel.)
Setting [Use TLS] to ON brings up the message dialog [Changes made to TLS Settings will be applied to both MEAP and
Remote UI.]. Press [OK].
2. Press [OK] to return to the Main Menu screen.
3. Restart the machine.
CAUTION:
• The setting, [Use HTTP], is enabled/disabled as configured only after you execute [Apply Setting Changes] on the Top
screen.
• You cannot connect to this machine using a web browser via a proxy server. In an environment where a proxy server
is in use, enter the machine's IP address in the [Exceptions] (addresses that do not use proxies) field under the proxy
server settings of your web browser. (Because these settings are different depending on a network environment,
consult your network administrator.)
• Unless the use of cookies and JavaScript is enabled on the web browser, you cannot use SMS.
CAUTION:
• When typing characters on a web browser, make sure you use the characters that can also be entered on the machine's
Touch Panel. Other characters may not be properly displayed/recognized on the machine.
• To set [Use TLS] to ON, a key pair and server certificate used for TLS-encrypted communication must be set under
[Settings/Registration] > [Preferences] > [Network] > [TCP/IP Settings] > [TLS Settings]. For details, see [Top] >
[Security] > [MEAP Settings] > [Using the TLS] in the User's Guide found at the following URL.

■ If [Key and Certificate Settings] is not set
To use SMS via TLS connection, a key pair and server certificate must be specified as the key to be used.
Because a key that can be used for TLS-encrypted communication (default key) is installed as standard on this machine, however,
you do not need to set up a key pair and server certificate beforehand.
If using an encryption key other than the default key, see the User's Guide found at the following URL and set up a key pair and
server certificate required to perform TLS-encrypted communication.

NOTE:
When a key is set up, an access to SMS is always encrypted by TLS regardless of the [Use TLS] setting under [Settings/
Registration] > [Management Settings] > [License/Other] > [MEAP Settings].
