POST Errors

Error messages appear during POST when configuration information does not match the
settings stored in memory. Error message also appear if the system loses the configuration
information due to hardware failure.
Refer to Table 2-4 for a description of POST error messages.
MESSAGE
Diskette drive failure
Diskette read failure
No boot device
available
Invalid configuration
information – run SCU
Real time clock failure
Time-of-day not set
Fixed disk
configuration error

WHAT TO DO
The diskette drive does not work or is not
properly connected.
Check that the drive is securely connected and
power is on.
Run the SCU to check the diskette drive
parameters.
If problem persists, the drive might need
repair.
Remove the diskette from the drive and try
another diskette. If you cannot read from the
next diskette, your drive might need repair.
Go into the SCU and check the hard disk type
defined. Unless you had a different hard disk
installed, the setting should be "Auto." Correct
the setting.
Start the SCU, check the system parameters
set, and correct them. Exit and save the
parameters set.
Connect the AC adapter to charge the internal
backup battery. Restart the SCU and set the
correct parameters.
Set the time and date using the SCU. Exit and
save to update the parameters.
Connect the AC adapter to charge the internal
backup battery.
Run SCU and set the time and date. Exit SCU
and save to update the time and date.
Start the SCU. Check that the hard disk type
specified is "Auto." If not, change it to Auto
under the Hard Disk option in the Standard
menu. Exit and save to update the
parameters. If a problem still exists, the hard
disk might need repair.
