Switching to Text Mode in OS/2
If your server is running IBM OS/2, you can create a hot key to invoke an OS/2
full screen session. Using the hot key, you send a series of keystroke combinations
from the remote client which then invokes a full screen session.
To create the hot key:
1. In OS/2 right-click the desktop to display the primary Desktop menu.
2. Click the Open arrow. (Skip this step if you are using OS/2 Warp.)
3. Click Settings.
4. Click Menu, then drag the Desktop settings menu away to see the OS/2
System folder is visible.
5. Open the OS/2 System folder, then open the Command Prompts folder
within the System folder.
6. Locate the OS/2 Full Screen icon within the Command Prompts folder,
then right-click the icon to display the icon settings menu.
7. Click the Open arrow.
8. Click Settings.
9. In the "Optional Parameters" entry area, type %.
10. Save the setting by closing the dialog box.
11. While holding down the Ctrl key, use the right mouse button to drag the
OS/2 Full Screen icon to the Desktop Settings menu and into the "Actions
on menu: Primary pop-up menu" window.
12. Click OS/2 Full Screen to select it.
13. Click Settings.
14. In the "Menu item name" field, type a tilde (~) in front of the character you
want to designate as the hot key. (Use a key that has not been designated as
another hot key.)
15. Click OK to save the setting.
16. Close the Desktop Settings menu.
After creating a hot key in OS/2, you can "press" the hot key by sending a series of
keystroke combinations from the remote client.
To invoke an OS/2 Full Screen session from the remote client, type the following
keystroke combinations:
