INTRODUCTION
Important safety information
The socket-outlet must be installed near the equipment and must be easily acces-
sible.
Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is specifically designed
for wet locations.
Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has
been disconnected at the network interface.
In Australia, installing or modifying telephone lines should only be done by an Austel
licensed serviceman. In New Zealand, installing or modifyingtelephone lines should
be done in accordance with Teiecom wiring practices.
Avoid using a telephone (other than a cordlesstype) during an electrical storm. There
may be a remote risk of electric shock from lightning.
Do not use a telephone in the vicinity of a gas leak
Do not install or use the machine near water, or when you are wet. Take care not to
spill any liquids on the machine.

machine and the telephone system
The Australian Austel Permit Number and Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) and
the New Zealand Teiecom Registration and Ringer Approximate Loading (RAL) for
this equipment are shown on the labels on the back of the machine. The telephone
company may require these numbers.
For Australia: The sum of all Ringer Equivalence Numbers on your telephone line
should be three or less in order to assure proper service from the telephone
company.
For New Zealand: The sum of all Ringer Approximate Loadings on your telephone
line should be five or less in order to assure proper service from the telephone
company.
