Getting Started

Setting the system configuration

The system configuration for your Toshiba Magnia 3200 server was set at the factory.
However, if you install optional items after shipment, you may need to reconfigure the
server. For detailed information on configuring the server, see Chapter 3,
Configuration Setup

BIOS Setup Utility

In addition to the SST, the BIOS Setup Utility allows you to configure the hardware
installed in the server.

Onboard SCSI Utility

The Onboard SCSI Utility allows you to configure the server's onboard SCSI devices and
onboard SCSI controller.

Setting up a disk array (RAID)

The Toshiba Server Setup Tool (SST) provides three options for setting up a RAID
controller on the server:
Simplified setup
Detailed setup
No setup
Simplified setup automatically configures the disk array with a minimal number of default
settings. Detailed setup and No setup require you to configure the disk array manually.
For information on configuring the disk array, refer to the user's guide that came with the
RAID controller.
If you plan to install Windows NT or Windows 2000, install the Power Console Plus utility
after installing the operating system. Power Console Plus allows you to manage and
monitor your RAID controller while your server is up and running.
After installing Windows NT or Windows 2000, you can use the Toshiba Server Setup
Tool to automatically install the Power Console Plus utility. For installation instructions,
refer to the Toshiba Magnia 3200 Server Setup Tool Manual provided on the Toshiba
Server Setup Tool CD that came with the server.
