Using device proxies

You can embed your STEP 7 V5.x project in the HMI configuration without having to migrate
the project. In this way, you can continue performing the programming and configuration of
the PLC project in STEP 7 V5.x and use WinCC (TIA Portal) for the HMI configuration.
Using a device proxy offers the following advantages when working with SINUMERIK
Integrate Create My HMI /WinCC:
● Configuration of an integrated connection to the PLC without installing
STEP 7 (TIA Portal).
● Configuration of SINUMERIK DB2 alarms in the TIA Portal without installing STEP 7
(TIA Portal).
● Read access to PLC tags that are declared in the STEP 7 V5.x project without migrating
them.
● Management of PLC tags in STEP 7 V5.x project and easy updating of the data source in
the TIA Portal for changes.
Configure a device-proxy for this in the TIA Portal with the STEP 7 V5.x project as a data
source.
Even if you subsequently change something in the STEP 7 V5.x project, you can easily
apply these changes in the TIA Portal by updating the device proxy data.
