Required software components for DB2 alarms

DB2 alarms are ALARM_S alarms that belong to the PLC. You therefore require an
integrated connection to the PLC in your HMI project.
Depending on technical or plant-specific factors, configure a device proxy or a SINUMERIK
NCU as connection partner of the SIMATIC Panel or PC system.
Device proxy with PLC data of a STEP 7 project as of V5.4
● If you have not installed STEP 7 Professional (TIA Portal), you can continue to use your
STEP 7 project as of V5.4.
● Additionally required software components: STEP 7 as of V5.4 SP3 with SINUMERIK
add-on and project file (*.s7p)
● Integrated connection to the STEP 7 V5.x project via a device proxy in the HMI
configuration of the TIA Portal
● Advantage: You can leave the hardware configuration and the PLC program in STEP 7
V5.x. You do not have to migrate the STEP 7 V5.x project, instead you can establish an
integrated connection to this PLC project via a device proxy.
● The handling is similar to a WinCC flexible project which is integrated in the SIMATIC
Manager.

SINUMERIK NCU
● If you want to manage the HMI configuration, hardware configuration and the PLC
program in the same project, ideally you should configure a SINUMERIK NCU.
● Additionally required software components: SINUMERIK TIA Portal Toolbox and
SIMATIC STEP 7 Professional (TIA Portal)
● Advantage: All devices can be completely configured directly in the TIA Portal, including
the hardware configuration of the NCU and programming of the PLC program.
