ADJUSTING THE VALVE CLEARANCE

ADJUSTING THE VALVE CLEARANCE
The following procedure applies to all of the
valves.
NOTE:
@
• Valve clearance adjustment should be made
on a cold engine, at room temperature.
• When the valve clearance is to be measured
or adjusted, the piston must be at top dead
center (TDC) on the compression stroke.
1. Remove:
• rider seat
• fuel tank
• T-bar
• rubber sheet
Refer to "SEATS AND FUEL TANK".
• side cowlings
• front cowling assembly
Refer to "COWLINGS AND COVERS".
Refer to "AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM" in
chapter 7.
• thermostat assembly
Refer to "THERMOSTAT" in chapter 6.
• air cut-off valve assembly
• air induction system hoses
2. Remove:
• spark plugs
• cylinder head cover 1
• cylinder head cover gasket
