CHECKING THE EXHAUST GAS AT IDLE/

ADJUSTING THE ENGINE IDLING SPEED

7. Install:
• carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon tester
1
• sampling probe 2
NOTE:
• Since it is necessary to insert the sampling
probe 600 mm into the exhaust pipe, be sure
to use a heat-resistant rubber tube as shown
in the illustration.
• Be sure to set the heat-resistant rubber tube
so that exhaust gas does not leak out.
• Before using the carbon monoxide and
hydrocarbon tester, be sure to read the
user's manual.
8. Measure:
• carbon monoxide density
• hydrocarbon density
Carbon monoxide density (when
air induction system is operating)
Below 1%
(Reference value)
Out of specification → Check air induction
system.
Refer to "AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM" in
chapter 7.

NOTE:

Prior to adjusting the engine idling speed, the
throttle bodies synchronization should be
adjusted properly, the air filter element should
be clean, and the engine should have ade-
quate compression.
