b. Remove the pin "1" by pressing the plung-
er and diaphragm.
c. Remove the diaphragm, plunger, and
springs.

Checking the diaphragm and valve

1. Check:
• Diaphragm "1"
Torn/deformed/worn  Replace.
• Valve "2"
Deformed/worn  Replace the fuel pump
body "3".

Assembling the fuel pump

Before assembling the fuel pump, clean the
parts and soak the valves and diaphragm in
gasoline to obtain prompt operation of the fuel
pump.
1. Assemble:
• Fuel pump body

a. Install the springs "1" and "2", plunger "3",
and diaphragm "4".

b. Align the hole "a" in the plunger "1" with the
hole "b" in the diaphragm "2" by pushing
the plunger and diaphragm.
c. Install the pin "3".
