[ Dividing a track into two (Divide function) j
A recorded track can be divided into two tracks any time. This
makes it possible to add a track number which can be used to
locate the divided point.
This function is convenient when a single track contains two or
more pieces of music or when you want to mark a point in the
middle of a track. The track numbers after the divided track are
updated automatically,

1.When the point where you want to divide the
current track comes during its playback, press
the pause (I!) button.
2. Press the EDIT/NO button to display the editing
menu.
3.Turn the jog dial on the main unit or press the
skip (< or >!) button on the remote control unit
so that "Divide" is displayed.
4. Push the jog dial .
(or the ENTER button on the remote contro! unit).
The 4-second sections before and after the point where the
pause button is pressed in 1 (i.e. the point where the track is
divided) are played alternately and repeatedly.
To change the point where the track is divided, go to step 5.
f not, go to step 6.
5.While listening to the repeated playback, fine-
adjust the track dividing point.
While listening to music, press the fast forward or fast re-
verse button to fine-adjust the track dividing point.
@ in this operation, each adjustment step corresponds to
about 0.01 second.
e@ The divided point can be fine-adjusted in the range =255
steps.
e To abort operation, press the stop button or EDIT/NO
button.
6. Push the jog dial .
{or the ENTER button on the remote control unit).
« f the divided track has a name, the same name is given
to both tracks obtained by division. However, under the
"TOC Full" condition, the name may not be given to the
latter track (see Page 67).
@ Tracks can be divided until the total number of tracks in
an MD reaches 254.
1.Puise el boton de pausa cuando liegue el punto
donde desee dividir la pista actual.
2. Pulse el botén EDIT/NO para visualizar el mena
de edicion.
3.Gire el mando de control de la unidad principal
o pulse el boton de salto («<4 0 » >i) del mando a
distancia para que se visualice "Divide".
4. Puise ei mando de control .
(o el boton ENTER del mando a distancia).
Las secciones de 4 segundos antes y después del punto donde se
puls6 el botén de pausa en 1 (es decir, el punto donde se dividid
la pista) se reproducen alternativa y repetidamente.
Vaya al paso 5 para cambiar el punto donde se dividio la
pista. Si no, vaya al paso 6.
5.Mientras escucha la reproduccién repetida,
ajuste de forma precisa el punto de division de
las pistas.
Mientras escucha la musica, pulse el botén de avance rapido o
retroceso rapido para ajustar de forma precisa el punto de
division de la pista.

e@ En esta operacién, cada paso de ajuste corresponde a
0,01 de segundo.
e El punto de division puede ajustarse con precisidn en la
gama de +255pasos.
e Para anular la operacion, pulse el boton de parada o ef
boton EDIT/NO.
6. Pulse el mando de control .
{o ef botén ENTER dei mando a distancia).
e Sila pista dividida tiene un nombre, ambas pistas obtenidas
de la division tendran el mismo nombre. Sin embargo, bajo
la condicion "TOC Full", la segunda parte de la pista tal vez
no pueda obtener el nombre (consulte fa pagina 62).
® Las pistas pueden dividirse hasta que el numero total de
pistas del MD aicance el numero de 254.
