Second environment (drive of category C3)

The drive complies with the standard with the following provisions:
1. The drive is equipped with EMC filter E200 [suitable for TN (earthed) systems] or E210 [suitable for
TN (earthed) and IT (unearthed) systems].
2. The motor and control cables are selected as specified in the Hardware Manual.
3. The drive is installed according to the instructions given in the Hardware Manual.
4. Maximum cable length is 100 metres.
WARNING! A drive of category C3 is not intended to be used on a low-voltage public network which
supplies domestic premises. Radio frequency interference is expected if the drive is used on such a
network.

Second environment (drive of category C4)

If the provisions under
the standard can be met as follows:
1. It is ensured that no excessive emission is propagated to neighbouring low-voltage networks. In
some cases, the natural suppression in transformers and cables is sufficient. If in doubt, the supply
transformer with static screening between the primary and secondary windings can be used.

2. An EMC plan for preventing disturbances is drawn up for the installation. A template is available
from the local ABB representative.
3. The motor and control cables are selected as specified in the Hardware Manual.
4. The drive is installed according to the instructions given in the Hardware Manual.

Machinery Directive

The drive is an electronic product which is covered by the European Low Voltage Directive. However,
the drive can be equipped with the Safe torque off function and other safety functions for machinery
which, as safety components, are in the scope of the Machinery Directive. These functions of the drive
comply with European harmonized standards such as EN 61800-5-2. The declaration of conformity for
each function is in the appropriate function-specific manual.
