The table below shows some important standards and guidelines that must be observed to
ensure safe, EMC-compliant installation. The standards and guidelines apply to installations
in industrial environments. (other conditions apply to installations in public networks).

Description
Directive of the European Parliament and Council of December 12, 2006, on the
approximation of the laws of the member states relating to electrical equipment
designed for use within certain voltage limits.
Low voltage directive
Directive of the Council of July 22, 1998 on the approximation of laws and regulations of
the member states relating to machinery.
Machine directive
Directive of the European Parliament and Council of December 15, 2004, which repeals
directive 89/336/EEC, on the approximation of laws of the member states relating to
electromagnetic compatibility.
EMC directive
