Bar Code Reader Operation

This unit is provided with a built-in bar code reader, which reads bar code
labels on the backs of the cassettes. It then transfers the information on the
labels to the host computer.
Preparations
Affix labels to the cassettes, following the directions on page 22(E) before
loading them into the unit.
To read the bar code labels
Send an Initialize Element Status command to this unit from the host
computer, with the NBL bit set to 0. This automatically reads the bar code
labels for all of the elements (bins) in the unit, and saves the information.
Unless this command is issued, no bar code labels are read.
To transfer the information from the bar code labels
Send a Read Element Status command to this unit from the host computer
with the VOL Tag bit set to 1; the unit returns the information from the
bar code labels to the host computer.
When not using the bar code reader
If you set SET UP switch number 2 on the rear panel of the unit to the ON
position and power on, then the bar code labels are not read. In this case,
if the unit receives a command from the host computer relating to bar code
labels, it returns an error condition.
