Slots for data and system memory cards
The slots for data memory card and system memory card are on the back of the HMI device.
The memory cards are protected by a safety catch.

Formatting the data memory card
The following file systems are supported for formatting the data memory card:
● FAT32
● NTFS
Use one of the supported file systems when formatting the data memory card.
Note
Using system memory card as data memory card
A memory card that has already been used as a system memory card in conjunction with the
"Automatic backup" function can no longer be used as a data memory card. To use a system
memory card as a data memory card, format the memory card with one of the supported file
systems, preferably NTFS.
Formatting the system memory card
When you insert a SIMATIC SD memory card with 32 GB or more in slot X50 and activate
the "Automatic backup (Page 108)" function, the memory card is formatted automatically.
Note
Using the data memory card as system memory card
A memory card that has been used as a data memory card must be formatted before it can
be used as a system memory card. Formatting takes place automatically when you activate
the "Automatic backup (Page 108)" function. All data is lost on the memory card during
formatting. If necessary, back up the data on a data memory card before you use this
memory card as a system memory card.
