2.23.3 Air Flap Control
The air flaps are controlled by the control electronics and the temperature
programmed by the customer.
Closing the air flaps (Figure 030-10, Item 1) creates a high humidity level.
The air flap motor (Figure 030-10, Item 3) will drive a rotary cam into such a
position that the lever arms (Figure 030-10, Item 2) are not pressed down and
the microswitch (Figure 030-10, Item 4) is not activated.

Opening the air flaps (Figure 030-11, Item 1) creates a low humidity level.
The air flap motor (Figure 030-11, Item 2) drives a rotary cam into such a
position that the lever arms (Figure 030-11, Item 3) are pressed down and the
microswitch (Figure 030-11, Item 4) is activated.

Air Flow

Cold air is heavy, and drops below the evaporator. The evaporator fan (below
the evaporator) catches this cold air (Figure 030-12, Items 3 and 12) and
circulates it throughout the refrigerator, SmartFresh drawers or freezer
cabinet (Figure 030-12, Items 4 and 13). Through a foamed-in air duct at the
rear of the appliance (Figure 030-12, Items 2 and 8), the cold air is directed
into the refrigerator or SmartFresh compartment.
The air flap blocks the outlet of the air channel that is not to be supplied with
cold air (Figure 030-12, Item 11). The air flap is moved into the required
position by the air flap motor (Figure 030-12, Item 10) and the air flap position
switch (Figure 030-12, Item 9).
