5.9 Software Design Specification of Fan Control Algorithm

This section is described about the algorithm of fan speed control. And this document is
only for IPMI firmware V1.0.1B6 version.
■ 5.9.1 Algorithm
LOM provide four fan control algorithm to control fan speed: "Full Speed" mode,
"Performance" mode, "Balanced" mode and "Energy Saving" mode. To active those fan
control algorithm, please go to BIOS setting screen and chose "Advanced" => "Hardware
Monitor" => "Fan Speed Control Mod" to set up fan speed control mode. Following section
will introduce each fan speed control algorithm.
Note:
1. The default fan speed control mode is "Performance" mode
2. The initial fan speed duty cycle is 30% when BMC is ready. And then BMC control fan speed with
choose algorithm.
