PLAYBACK OF PRERECORDED TAPES
Preparation
•
Insert a prerecorded video cassette.
•
Turn the TV on and select Channel 3 or 4.

The playback mode is selected by the unit automatically, and is indicated in the display.
•
Adjust the PLAY TRACKING control if there are noise bars during playback.
•
Sharpen or soften the picture if needed with the SHARPNESS control.

Still Playback
When the VCR plays a tape, press the PAUSE/STI LL button to view a still picture.

and the Still Remain time (maximum 5 minutes) will appear in the
display.
•
To continue normal playback press the PLAY button or PAUSE/STI LL button.
•
If the tape is recorded in the LP mode, the picture will not be clear.
•
If the VCR is left in the still mode for 5 minutes (the Still Remain time will count down to aMaaS)
the unit will resume playback automatically to protect the tape and video heads.
• What should be done if the picture rolls when viewing a still picture?
With certain televisions, when viewing a still picture (stop action), the picture may jitter. To correct
this problem, insert a screwdriver into the STI LL Adjustment control under the front compartment
and turn it either left or right.

Cue Playback (Forward Picture Search)
Press the FAST FORWARD/CUE button when the VCR is in the playback mode.

appears in the VCR display. You can now view the playback pic-
ture in the forward direction at 5 times (SP mode) or 7 times (LP mode) or 9 times (EP mode) the
speed of normal playback.
•
In the EP mode, pressing the FAST FORWARD button a second time will increase the search speed
from 9 times normal playback to 21 times normal playback (JET Search). By pressing the FAST
FORWARD button again the search speed will slow down to the standard search speed.
•
The JET Search function can also be operated in the SP mode (from 5 to 9 times normal playback
speed) .
