Electrical considerations

The Brocade 6545 16 Gbps FC Switch Module requires 52 watts nominal (maximum of 68 watts),
which is provided by the Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900 S2 or BX400 Blade Server. No other power
requirement or provision exists.

Environmental considerations

Ensure proper cooling and ventilation by verifying the following:

Preparing the Blade Server for the Switch Module

Do not touch solder joints, pins, or exposed printed circuitry.
Do not leave the device where others can handle and damage it.
While the device is still in its static-protective package, touch it to an unpainted metal surface
of the chassis or an unpainted metal surface on any other grounded rack component in the
rack in which you are installing the device for at least two seconds. This drains static electricity
from the package and from your body.
Remove the device from its package and install it directly into the chassis without setting down
the device. If it is necessary to set down the device, put it back into its static-protective
package. Do not place the device on the chassis or on a metal surface.
Take additional care when you handle devices during cold weather. Heating reduces indoor
humidity and increases static electricity.
Some types of chassis come with electrostatic discharge (ESD) connectors. If the chassis is
equipped with an ESD connector, refer to the documentation that comes with the chassis for
using the ESD connector.
Air vents on the Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900 S2 or BX400 Blade Server are not blocked or
restricted.
Ambient air temperature at the front of the enclosure does not exceed 35º C (95º F) while the
Switch Module is operating.
The Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900 S2 or BX400 Blade Server is powered up.
The I/O module bay into which the Brocade 6545 16 Gbps FC Switch Module will be inserted is
empty and ready to receive the Switch Module.
All power requirements specific to the Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900 S2 or Fujitsu PRIMERGY
BX400 Blade Server are met.
If you are replacing an existing Switch Module with a new one, the new one should be ready to
be inserted within one minute from removal of the old one to maintain the proper cooling level
in the chassis.
