Cabling guidelines for fiber-optic cables

After modifying the Brocade 6545 16 Gbps FC Switch Module IP address and domain name (if the
Switch Module is in Fabric OS Native mode), it is recommended that you cable all external ports to
fabric connections before bringing the Switch Module online. Refer to

Begin by cabling ports 19 through 25 and 0. Ports 19 to 22 are licensed at the factory as part of
Dynamic Ports On Demand (DPOD). By cabling these ports first, you will not need to move licenses
to other ports you may have cabled.

Do not route the cable along a folding cable-management arm.
When you attach the cable to a device on slide rails, leave enough slack in the cable so that it
does not bend to a radius of less than 38 mm (1.5 in.) when the device is extended, or
becomes pinched when the device is retracted.
Route the cable away from places where it can be snagged by other devices in the rack.
Do not overtighten the cable straps or bend the cables to a radius of less than 38 mm (1.5 in.).
