Explanation, example
IP address of the web server. The IP address for
the web server on the Ethernet ex works is:
1 92.168.251.1.
The Subnet mask sets the size of the subnet.
A value of 255 masks the partial network; a
value of 0 masks the device portion of the IP
addresses on the subnet. Devices must have
the same partial network to communicate
directly.
The factory setting for the web server subnet
m ask: 255.255.255.0.
The Default gateway connects the subnetwork
for the web server to additional networks, e.g.
the Internet. The router typically is the default
g ateway.
The Preferred DNS server is necessary to send
e-mails.
The router typically is the DNS server for the
w eb server.
An alternative DNS server is only defined for
r edundant systems and is typically empty.
The physical address is a unique identification
f or the Ethernet interface.
