Drag the dissolve icon to the overlap at the beginning of the Effect
track.

Drag the dissolve icon to the overlap at the end of the Effect track.
As shown below, a dissolve effect is set for the first and final edits.

Click the Close button of the Effect dialog box.
The Effect dialog box closes.
