At the time of initial introduction of system, a default VLAN (VLAN1) is set for GS4000 so that it can work as a
layer2 switch using only one VLAN. When you use GS4000 only as a layer2 switch, you can start communications
through GS4000 only by connecting interface cables to it without setting configuration information.
NOTE
It is recommended that you set a time, user ID and a password of administrator referring to the
section "4.2 Startup of GS4000" even when you use GS4000 only as a layer2 switch.

This section explains how to log into GS4000 and set a time or a password of administrator as well as how to create
a new user ID.
(1) Log into GS4000.
Log into GS4000 by inputting a user ID. The "operator" is a default user ID set at the time of initial system introduction. (This
default user ID does not have a login password set for it.)
