Phonebook Types

The NEC 535M wireless phone can have up to 7 directories stored on your SIM card and in your
phone memory:
Complete: List of all numbers stored in the other phonebook types (Phone, SIM, and FDN)
l
except SDN numbers.
SIM: The personal directory stored in SIM memory; up to 250 number records can be stored
l
on SIM card, depending on your SIM card capacity. Only one name and number is allowed
per entry with a location number in the SIM directory.
Phone: The personal directory stored in the phone's memory; up to 500 number entries can
l
be stored. Each phone number entry allows storing a name, up to 7 phone numbers, 2 Email
addresses, 2 descriptive information, a ring tune, LED ring color, a voice tag, a phonebook
picture, and a location number in the Phone directory. Names can be placed into groups to
simplify searching.
SDN: Service Dialing Numbers are pre-installed by your network service provider. The SDN
l
phone numbers and services supplied by the provider cannot be edited by you. You cannot
see the number that is dialed; only the associated text title. Examples of SDN numbers are
customer inquiries, billing information, sports lines, weather lines, etc. If SDN is not
supported by the network service provider, SDN does not show as a phonebook.
FDN: Fixed dialing numbers (FDN) is a means of limiting which numbers can be called from
l
your phone. With the FDN feature turned On, only the numbers in the FDN phonebook and
emergency numbers can be called from your phone. To access FDN phonebook functions,
you must enter your PIN2.
Own number: Your wireless phone number.
l
Voice mail number: The voice mail number that you contact for voice messages.
l
The numbers from Phone and SIM can be viewed, altered and called unless FDN is set On. If
FDN is set On, only the FDN phonebook may be viewed, altered, and called.
The factory default setting is the Complete phonebook. The first time that you press BOOK, the
Complete phonebook displays with "List empty." The phonebook application recalls the last
viewed phonebook. Each time you access the phonebook by pressing the BOOK key from the
Idle screen, the most recently used phonebook displays.

FDN and SDN are service
provider dependent
features.
For emergency calls,
ensure your wireless
phone is turned On,
battery is properly
charged, and the network
connection signal strength
level is adequate before
attempting an emergency
call. If your battery is
empty (see page 27), you
can not make or receive
any calls, including
emergency calls.
You can switch between
the directories (if your SIM
card supports them) by
pressing BOOK.
The maximum number of
phone entries that can be
stored on the SIM card is
250, dependent upon the
SIM-card type. (This
includes SIM, FDN, and
SDN).
