Accessing Messages
To access the Message Center:

Press Softkey 1 (Message) or MENU (Main) and 2 to display the Message menu or press
MENU (Main) and highlight and select the Message center option 2.
To select a Message menu option:

Press the Message folder option number (1 through 8) or highlight and select the desired
option.
At message fields that require text entry, enter the first letter in the field and the text editor
screen displays or press Select at a highlighted field to display the text editor screen.

Message Center Overview

The NEC 535M supports a number of message services.
SMS (Short Message Service) allows you to send short text messages to a phone number.
l
To send a SMS message, the destination phone number must be a wireless phone with
SMS service subscription. SMS service also supports EMS (Enhanced Message Service) to
send canned text, small graphics, and musical sounds. The maximum length of the message
you send depends on the number of "linked messages" (maximum of 10 linked messages
are available.
MMS (Multimedia Message Service) allows you to send text messages with attached image,
l
sound, and/or video files presented on a single screen or several screens (slides). When you
receive a MMS message, you are notified by a message from the MMS center. You may
either automatically or manually receive the contents of the a MMS message.
Email is an Internet message sent to an Email address.

Broadcast messages are sent from the network service provider regarding the network
l
service, weather report, news, etc.
Message menu icon:
SMS messages only allow
a phone number in the To

field.
MMS messages allow
slide presentations.
Emails only allow an
Email address in the To
field.
