DISK EXPANSION UNIT FEATURES

Support for up to 12 hard disk drives.
Serial-Attached SCSI interface support.
Hot-plug hard disk drives, fan modules, and power units can be replaced without
shutting down the Disk Expansion Unit.
High availability
Redundant fan configuration
The Disk Expansion Unit features a redundant fan configuration. This allows the
Disk Expansion Unit to be used as usual even if one of the fans is defective.
Redundant power unit configuration
To achieve a redundant power unit configuration, use the optional redundant power
unit. In this case, the Disk Expansion Unit can be used as usual if one of the
power units is defective.
In general, the Disk Expansion Unit does not feature the redundant power unit
configuration. In this case, the failure of the power unit makes the Disk Expansion
Unit unavailable.
Monitoring feature
Status LEDs indicate the status of the Disk Expansion Unit.
