4. Hold the handle and pull out the hard disk.
5. To use the Disk Expansion Unit without a hard disk in the slot, remove the hard disk
drive (and adapter, if applicable) from the tray, and install the empty tray into the slot.
6. Install the front bezel removed in step 2 referring to the section "Installing or Removing
the Front Bezel".

Rebuilding Disks

In a RAID configuration (except RAID 0), we recommend you take advantage of the rebuild
function. This feature allows the system to rebuild the data of the Disk Expansion Unit exactly as
it was before a hard disk drive became defective. When hot-swapping the defective hard disk
drive with a new one (that is, replacing without powering off the system or removing the interface
cable), the auto-rebuild function is automatically activated.
Observe the following notes on the execution of the auto rebuild.
Do not power off the Disk Expansion Unit between the occurrence of a fault and the end
of the auto-rebuild.
When removing a hard disk from the Disk Expansion Unit, wait at least 90 seconds
before installing a new hard disk.
Do not replace another hard disk during a rebuild process (Note that the disk Power LED
blinks green during the rebuild).
