10.3 Connecting the IrDA Port

The IrDA adaptor enables communication between the device and a PC via a port selected at the Service
Port Swtch.
To prepare the IrDA interface for use:
1. Install the Utility Software CD onto the PC – see Section 10.2, page 96.
2. Plug the IrDA adaptor into a USB / RS232 adaptor cable and plug the USB connection into the PC.
3. Align the IrDA adaptor to within 0.5 m (1.5 ft) of the transmitter.

10.4 Configuring the Service Port Switch

To configure the Service Port switch:
1. Ensure the IrDA adaptor is connected – see Section 10.3 (above).
2. Launch the Service Port Switch utility.
3. From the drop-down list, select the COM port
4. From the drop-down list, select the client application
– Cyclic O/P – see Section 10.5, page 98
– Parameter Dump – see Section 10.6, page 98
– HMI – see Section 10.7, page 100
– HART – see Section 10.8, page 100
5. Click 'Connect'
made.
Note. It is necessary to keep the Service Port Switch open the whole time the service port is used.
