displays as a flat line

Do this
 Select ECG.
1. Enable the first ECG trigger.
● Press the first Delay control.
○ For systems without a touch screen, select T1 on the image menu.
2. Enable the second ECG trigger.
● Press the second Delay control.
○ For systems without a touch screen, select T2 on the image menu.
The system displays a trigger as a blue vertical line on each cycle of the ECG
trace. The first trigger is twice the length of the second trigger.
Each trigger defines the time when the system updates (refreshes) the 2D-mode
image. If multiple 2D-mode images are displayed, the system updates only the
real-time image. For example, if Dual format is selected with only the left image
displayed in real-time, the system updates only the left image.
Note: If you activate a mixed imaging mode that includes M-mode or Doppler,
the system deactivates the trigger function.
1. Set a trigger delay for Trigger 1.
● Rotate the first Delay control.
○ For systems without a touch screen, select Delay and then rotate [Menu].
2. Set a trigger delay for Trigger 2.
● Rotate the second Delay control.
○ For systems without a touch screen, select Delay and then rotate [Menu].
Each trigger delay setting determines the position of the related trigger. The system
retains the trigger delay setting(s) until the system is powered off.
Note: Increasing the trigger delay positions the trigger farther to the right of the
QRS complex.
Possible Cause
 The ECG cable is not properly attached to the system.
 All three leads are not connected to the patient.
 Leads are poorly connected to the cable.
 Leads are poorly connected to the patient.
 Leads are incorrectly placed on the patient. Remove the ECG patch, clean the skin,
and attach a new ECG patch to the patient.
 Gain is set too low.
 No R-wave present.
 Too much movement by the patient.
 A lead or leads may be detecting muscle movement. Inspect the ECG patch
placement and reposition the lead(s) on the patient as necessary.
 The conductive gel pad of an ECG patch has evaporated (dried out). Replace the
ECG patch with a new one (check the expiration date of the new patch).
 A trigger may be superimposed on the R-wave.
