Auto Test
The AutoTest function logs reconstruction data during a special service mode where you complete 24 scans of
the GE slope & the GE flat phantoms.
When Should You Run AutoTest
When the clinicians report artifact Caution messages frequently during regular patient scanning. Please note
that it is not abnormal for these messages to occur occasionally on the top slices of head studies.
When the clinicians report center artifacts on head images or liver studies.
If Caution or Advisory messages appear frequently in the system message log.

AutoTest Preparation
The AutoTest procedure involves scanning the test phantoms at 120 kV and 140kV techniques.
Make sure that system calibrations have been completed for both of these techniques before
beginning AutoTest.
Proceed as follows:
1. Gather the following items for the test:
(a) Sloped five-inch poly phantom 46-313332G1. Listed in Service Instrumentation Catalog.
(b) Five-inch "flat" crosstalk poly phantom 46-278221G1. Shipped with the HLA system.
(c) Verify/update the system ID and Detector information.
2. If the tube is not warm, perform a complete warm-up. Refer to 9800 Tube Warmup Procedures. To ensure
collection of quality scan and image data, perform FASTCAL. (Refer to 9800 FASTCAL PROCEDURES.)
13-10
Turn AutoTest ON
The AutoTest function is implemented as manual scan protocol. AutoTest is enabled at R-level by running
REGEN/S and answering "Y" at the 2nd prompt. Then run M/S (service mode). This will also check for an empty
RECON QUEUE, and issue a page of SCAN procedures.
NEW AUTOTEST Activity value, (Y/N):
After 24 recons, the AutoTest feature will be turned off automatically, and the functionality will revert to the non-
autotest mode. All logging will terminate.
The output of the AutoTest procedure will be 24 images and the corresponding log file, QDR:SLOPETST.LG. If
this log file exists prior to running AutoTest, it is cleared. If Auto Test is incomplete, you may restart by exiting
and re-entering M/S. If the last run had less than 24 images, the log will clear and restart. If the log contained 24
images, you must rerun REGEN/S to re-enable Auto Test.
