4-3 - System Hang Crash Tape

A "System Hang" is when the system console keyboard becomes non-responsive and you have determined that
the CPU is not busy in some normal activity. It does not include 'Offline line printers' or 'rewinding magnetic
tapes'. A "CPU Malfunction" is an RDOS PANIC code. If the Panic Code is displayed, record the numbers shown
on the A/N screen:

To assist in determining the cause of the system hang, it is advisable to make a Crash Tape to be returned to CT
Service Engineering for analysis. A Crash Tape is an image of the computer memory and software status at the
time of the system hang.
The following procedure describes how to make a Crash Tape and the information which needs to be recorded
and accompany the Crash Tape.
1. Turn the Disk Drive "OFF-LINE" and reset the CPU. The spring loaded 'LOCK' switch on the front of the
computer must be held in the "UNLOCKED" position and press the "RESET" switch on the computer.
2. Mount a blank tape on the tape drive.
Set the tape drive to high density and the thumbswitch on the drive to number 3.
3. Acquire the following data at the operator's console by typing the following commands and documenting the
responses.

Then proceed to acquire by typing...
