an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.
• When removing a hot-swap fan without powering off the server, do not touch the system fan cage. With
power on, complete the replacement within 30 seconds to ensure proper operation.

Procedure
Step 1.
If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top
cover, or remove the server from the rack. See
Step 2.
Remove the top cover. See
Step 3.
Remove the system fan.
