3.2.12 1000BASE-SX/1000BASE-LX Multi-Mode Optical Fiber Cable
(Core Diameter 50 µm)
This interface cable is used for an 1000BASE-SX (GBICB-SX) and 1000BASE-LX
(GBICB-LX) connection. The boundary with the network is the router's connector.
The maximum transmission distance between devices using a 1000BASE-SX
connection is 500 m if you are using an optical fiber cable which has the following
specifications:
Core/Clad: 50/125 µm
Frequency bandwidth: 400 MHz *km (wavelength: 850 nm)
The maximum transmission distance between devices using a 1000BASE-LX
connection is 550 m if you are using an optical fiber cable which has the following
specifications:
Core/Clad: 50/125 µm
Frequency bandwidth: 500 MHz *km (wavelength: 1300 nm)
Figure 3-17 below shows the diagram of the 1000BASE-SX/1000BASE-LX
