Hitachi Gigabit Router GR2000-B Series Installation Guide
3.2.15

UTP Cable (Cat-5)

The boundary with the network is the router's connector. For connection to the hub
of 100BASE-TX port at 100 Mbit/s, use UTP interface cable (Category 5). You may
use the Category 3 UTP interface cable when connecting only to the 10BASE-T (10
Mbit/s) port. The maximum transmission distance between the GR2000-B and a 10
Mbit/s or 100 Mbit/s hub is 100 m.
Figure 3-12 and Table 3-4 below show a diagram of the twist pair cable and the pin
arrangement, respectively.

Note 1:
This should be connected to the port when using 100BASE-TX. When using 10BASE-T, it can
be disconnected or connected.
Note 2:
Because the interface uses differential, twisted pairs of wires, make (A) and (a), (B) and (b), (C)
and (c), and (D) and (d) into a pairs when using 100BASE-TX. Make (A) and (a), and (B) and (b) into a
pair when using 10BASE-T. The other pins can be connected to one another without particular regard,
or may be left open.
