Clearing Paper Jams

When the paper path is blocked, one of two messages
appears on the operator panel.

PAPER JAM DUPLEX
the duplex unit. This section shows you how to
investigate and clear both types of paper jam. Repeated
paper jams can usually be traced to inappropriate paper
type or problems in the environment around the printer.
Caution!
Do not turn the printer off before clearing
a paper jam. If the Jam Recovery setting is "On," the
printer will automatically reprint lost pages after a jam
is cleared.

Locating and Clearing a General Paper Jam

Follow these steps if the operator panel displays the
message:

PAPER JAM
1. Check and clear the multipurpose feeder if it is
in use
2. Check and clear the paper exits
3. Check and clear inside the front cover
4. Check and clear inside the back cover
5. Check and clear the paper cassettes
6. Check and clear the fuser unit
