Shutting down the device

Shutting down the device

This step is only necessary if you perform an upgrade or change components.

► Tell the system administrator that the device will be shut down and switched off line.
► Stop and close all applications.
► Shut down the device.
If there is an ACPI-compatible operating system deployed on the system, pressing the

ON/OFF button causes a controlled shutdown process or the device is put into standby
mode, depending on the setting.
Pay attention to the signaling of the power-on indicator, as described in the section
"Indicators on the device".
► Switch on the ID indicator of the device, as described in the section "Identifying defective
devices".
