3. KDS-100 Operation
SEL (Select) key: View the currently selected
message.
The following display appears by selecting a message
and pressing the SEL key.
The display shows the entire message. When reading
the message, depending on its size, you may have to
scroll to view the entire message. Use the ∧ ∧ ∧ ∧ / ∨ ∨ ∨ ∨ keys to
scroll up and down the screen. Scroll down when ∨ ∨ ∨ ∨
appears and scroll up when ∧ ∧ ∧ ∧ appears.
Press MENU or Select key when you finish reading the
message. Press MENU to enter Menu mode or SEL to
enter Message List mode.
"BASE 12/Apr 11:34AM" may not appear, depending
on the configuration at Edit → Optional Features →
Display → Display the caller identify.
Note: The above display will not appear if no messages are
stored in the KDS-100. [No Message] appears in the left corner
of the display.
T T T T First Screen
Following are explanations on how to assign function
keys on the first screen.
[1] [RESPOND]: This key allows you to respond to
the currently selected message. You can also make
a selection from Status call and Selective call.
[2] [↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ PAGE]: This key allows you to scroll down the
received Message List, page by page.
[3] [↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ PAGE]: This key allows you to scroll up the
received Message List, page by page.
[4] [FROM (TIME)]: This key allows you to change
the characteristics of the Message List display.
Select [FROM] to display the name of the sender or
[TIME] to display the date and time the message was
received.
[5] [MORE]: This key allows you to go to the second
screen.
Note:
The sender may not appear on the Message List,
depending on the configuration of the KPG-71D

You may not be able to execute [RESPOND] due to
the configuration of the KPG-71D.
[RESPOND] Respond to a message}
[RESPOND] will not appear.
T T T T Second Screen
Following are explanations on how to assign function
keys on the second screen.

In this case,
[1] [SORT]: This key allows you to sort your
messages with specific rules.
[2] [CHECK]: This key allows you to check the
currently selected message.
[3] [DELETE]: This key allows you to delete the
currently selected message. The message will be
deleted from the Message List. The message,
however, will not be deleted from the terminal's
memory; the message is simply moved to the
recycle bin. Use [MSG UTY] to restore the message
from the recycle bin.

[4] [RETURN]: This key allows you to return to the
first screen.
Note: You may not be able to execute [DELETE] due to
the configuration of the KPG-71D.
this case, [DELETE] will not appear.

Command descriptions

T T T T [RESPOND] Respond to a message
Select [RESPOND] on the first screen to respond to
a message. The following display appears.
This display allows you to make a selection from
Status call and Selective call. Press [STATUS] to go
to the Status call display or [SELCALL] to go to the
Selective call display.
Change the respond method using the "Preferred
Response" configuration of the KPG-71D. There are
three respond methods: Status call only mode,
Selective call only mode, and both. The above
display appears when using "both".
FleetSync (DMS) Settings}
Note: Respond key will not appear when selecting
"Selective call" for the respond method at "Preferred
Response" configuration and disable the Selective call at
"Sel. Call Key Type" configuration.

z Making a Status call
The following display appears when selecting
[STATUS].
The recipient and sender ID of the selected message
appears on the top line of the display.
The following lines are the messages that you can
send. The currently selected status is highlighted.
Although you can select a message to send, you
cannot select a recipient at Status Call of the Message
List mode.
