The display then switches to the previous display.
There are three types of setup screens: non-display,
any text, and any bit map data. Choose one of them by
adjusting the configuration in the KPG-71D. You can
also set the display time. The display will not change
unless you press the function key [1] due to the
configuration.

3.2.2. KDS-100 Modes

KDS-100 has three basic modes.
Menu mode: This mode allows you to select a Status
call or a Selective call.
Status List mode: This mode allows you to send the
selected status message to the selected recipient.

Message List mode: Message List mode displays a list
of all the messages stored in your terminal. You can
respond to any message from this mode.

You can change the mode by pressing MENU. Press
MENU while in the Menu mode to switch to the Status
List mode display. Press MENU while in Status List
mode to switch to the Message List mode display.
Press MENU while in Message List mode to switch to
the Menu list mode. The following illustration shows
the relationship of these modes.
You can switch mode anytime.
It is possible to go to any mode by pressing MENU
several times while you are operating in another
mode.
In addition, you can go to the Terminal settings mode.
This mode allows you to adjust the KDS-100
configuration.

3.2.3. Basic Operation

The KDS-100 has 9 keys. Below is a list of each key's
function.

MENU is used to change Menus. Press this key to cycle
through the Menu mode

The display sometimes switches into the top display of
each mode when you are opearating in a certain mode.
You can enter the Terminal settings
pressing and holding this key more than 1 second.
Menu mode and Status mode may not be
available, depending on the KDS-100 configuration.
Conditions when you cannot select the Menu
mode:
Edit → Screen Lockout in the Menu Screen
z
Settings is not selected. When none of the
configuration items of MENU are selected,
you cannot select the Menu mode. If the GPS
checkbox is greyed out even though it is
selected, Menu mode is not available.
z
When receiving TX STUN or TX/ RX STUN in
AIR mode.
Conditions when you cannot select the Status
mode:
Edit → FleetSync (DMS) Status List: If there
z
is no Status in the Status List 1 or Status List
2.
Edit → FleetSync (DMS)-ID List: If there is no
z
ID set; TX Inhibit (Status List) is set as "No".
z
When receiving TX STUN or TX/ RX STUN in
AIR mode.
Function keys
There are 5 function keys ([1] – [5]) that are mainly
used to select operations. The functions that are
performed by pressing these keys may vary but most of
them appear on the display, directly above the
corresponding key.
SEL (Select) key
Press to select a displayed item. In Status List
mode, press this key to switch the display between
Status List 1 and Status List 2. In Message List
mode, press this key to view the messages in the
list.
