EPSON printers have a range of international character sets which
can be selected with the command:
11111111111111111111111111111111
where ncorresponds to the number of the character font
(n
must be less
than 32). On printers such as the FX series, where it is possible to
have user-defined characters, this also means that the built-in
characters are automatically reselected in preference to the user-
defined set. For example, the command:
<CTRL>·l 3F
m11111111111111111111111111111
CHARACTER CONTROL
COMMANDS
AB
This would print:
AB
AB
AB
ABABAB
AB
In APPLESOFT you would do this with the following line:
PRINT CHR$(9) ; CHR$(65)
Once the automatic line feed has been cancelled, the printer will
not advance the paper unless either its own automatic line feed
function has been selected with a DIP switch, or you send a line feed
on its own. (Your printer manual will give details of controlling line
feeds with a DIP switch.) In APPLESOFT you would use the
command:
AB
To re-enable line feeds when they have previously been cancelled,
give the command:
<CTRL>·IA
PRINT CHR$(10)
You should not send line feeds directly in this way if you have used
the <CTRL>-1 nl command to set the left margin to any value other
than zero.
<CTRL>-l 10F
would select the tenth set - Denmark II characters on some printers.
The actual set selected should be determined by looking in your
printer manual.
It
will be described in conjunction with the <ESC> R
command, or it may be in an appendix. The value of n corresponds to
the value given in the Epson printer manual. If you use a value of n
which is greater than the highest value given in your manual, the
command will be ignored.
WARNING: This command cannot be used to select an international
character set if you have copied the character set from the character
generator ROM in order to use the downloaded set.
It
automatically
reselects the built-in character generator ROM characters.
