There are three commands to provide enhancement to the printed
text. The functions of these commands are:
In double-strike mode the characters are printed twice with a
double pass of the print head; on the second pass the dots are printed
slightly lower than on the first. In emphasized mode the characters are
again printed twice, but this time slightly shifted horizontally, and in
one pass of the print head.
Enlarged characters are twice as wide as normal characters. Care
should be taken when you set up text to print out in enlarged mode,
because a word processor will not know that it needs to print half as
many characters per line as normal to fit the page. It is also important
to cancel enlarged characters at the end of a line and not at the
beginning. This is because word processors frequently send spaces to
set the left margin, and if the enlarged characters are still set when the
spaces are printed for the margin, they will be twice the size you
expect. This means that the left margin on that line will be displaced to
the right.
