However, the printer itself automatically adds a carriage return after
every 132 characters it receives. To print 136-column spreadsheets on
an 80-column printer, use the Special Character option as follows:

APPLEWRITER II
Using APPLEWRITER II with a printer requires no special setting
up. In order to use the special features of the #8133 interface, you will
need to use the <CTRL>-V method to insert control characters. To use a
control character in the middle of text, first press <CTRL>-V then press
the appropriate keys for the control characters you require. Finally
press <CTRL>-V to turn the control mode off. In many cases the
<CTRL>-1 command will need a number of extra text characters. In
calculating the line length when formatting the text, APPLEWRITER
will take these characters into account, whereas it will ignore the
control characters for this purpose. Make sure you make allowances
for this when you write the text. For this reason, it is best to make
changes on a new line, rather than in the middle of text.
The version of APPLEWRITER for the APPLE II+ and the
version for the APPLE Ile are similar except in one respect; with
APPLEWRITER Ile it is not possible to send the <NUL> character
(ASCII code 0) using the <CTRL>-V method. Instead you should send
the <NUL> character by using the #8133 interface <CTRL>-1 O<
command. First type <CTRL>-V to go into control character mode.
Then type <CTRL>-1 followed by <CTRL>-V to go into normal text
mode. Then simply type O< as the next characters.
