Installing and Replacing the Toner Cartridge

This section describes how to install and replace toner cartridges.
When the amount of toner gets low, the message "Toner is low." is displayed on the Touch Panel screen. When
toner run out, beeping sound is heard, and the message "Toner bottle is empty, replace the toner cartridge with
new one right away" is displayed on the Touch Panel screen.
Before Starting
Operations
Installing and Replacing the Toner Cartridge (Example: Replacing the black toner cartridge)

Open the front cover by holding both sides of
the front cover.
Do not forcibly remove or open the toner cartridge. Otherwise, toner may spill inside the

machine, and a machine failure may result.
Be sure to handle the toner cartridge by maintaining it horizontally as much as possible.

When replacing the toner cartridge, be careful not to scatter toner. If toner is scattered,
●
be careful not to allow it to contact your skin or clothing, not to aspirate it, and not to
ingest it.
Be sure to use the toner cartridge specified by our company. Otherwise, print quality
●
may be affected adversely, or a machine failure may result.
Recycle used toner cartridges, aiming toward effective activities for global resources.

Although inconvenient, after use, without forcibly opening used toner cartridges, please
bring them to your NEC authorized dealer or service center.
Do not drop or throw toner cartridges.

The procedure for replacing any of the toner cartridges (yellow (Y), magenta (M), cyan
●
(C) or black (K)) is the same.
Clean electrostatic charger wire with the charger-cleaning tool after every time the toner
●
cartridges are replaced. When electrostatic charger wire is contaminated, lines may
appear on printed images.

Pull up the locking tab of the empty toner car-
tridge to unlock it. Pull out the toner cartridge
as far as possible, and then pull it up to remove
it.
