Appendix A: Setting-up NAS Network Drives

This appendix covers the following topics:

Network Attached Storage (NAS) is supported by ASUS Storage iSCSI
subsystems only. See ―iSCSI Storage Area Network (SAN)‖ on page 27 and
―Chapter 5: Smart NAS Console‖ on page 177.
Setting-up a Network Drive – Windows
Before you can set-up a network drive, you must have:
NAS file system. See ―Creating a NAS File System‖ on page 109.
Windows protocol enabled. See ―Making Windows Protocol Settings‖ on
page 102.
Windows sharing enabled. See ―Making Windows and FTP Sharing
Settings‖ on page 107.
To setup a network drive:
1.
On the Windows desktop, double-click the My Network Places icon.
2.
Click the Search button in the toolbar.
If the Search button is not shown, from the View menu, choose Toolbars,
then Standard Buttons.
3.
In the Computer name field, type the IP address of the ASUS Storage's
iSCSI port and click the Search button.
