2.5.4 Cleaning CD/DVD media

A dusty CD/DVD media or dust-accumulated tray causes the device to fail to read data correctly. Follow the
procedure below to clean the tray and CD/DVD media regularly:
1. Make sure that the server is powered on (the SYSTEM POWER LED is lit).
2. Press the Tray Eject button on the front of the optical disk drive.
The tray comes out from the drive.
3. Hold the CD/DVD media lightly and take it out from the tray.
4. Wipe the tray with a dry soft cloth.
5. Push on the tray back into drive.
6. Wipe the signal side of the CD/DVD media with a dry soft cloth.

Do not touch the signal side of the CD/DVD media with your hand.
Important
Do not wipe the lens of the optical disk drive. Doing so may damage the lens and
may cause a malfunction of the drive.
Important
Wipe CD/DVD media from the center to the outside.
Use only cleaner dedicated to CD/DVD media. Cleaning a CD/DVD media with record
spray/cleaner, benzene, or thinner causes damage to the CD/DVD media contents. At
worst, inserting the CD/DVD media into the server may cause failure.
