PROFIBUS device configuration

Device configuration in the TIA Portal
In the case of PROFIBUS, the structure of the hardware is mirrored in the device
configuration of the TIA Portal as follows:
Slot number
The configuration rules are as follows:
CIM
The CIM module includes the PROFIBUS connection and is permanently present in slot 1.
PM
The CIM I/O module is present in slot 2. If no I/O module PM is used, an empty space must
be configured here.
POM
A maximum of 12 POMs can be operated on one CIM.
NOTICE
No startup possible
If the device configuration in the project engineering does not match the configuration of the
HCS that actually exists, the device does not start up.
Ensure that the device configuration and the configuration that actually exists match.
Restrictions for PROFIBUS connection
The following functions are not available or only with restrictions for a PROFIBUS
connection:
● Configuration control is not available
● Combined mode with POM4320 is not possible
● In the case of operation of a POM4220 Midrange phase angle control, phase angle
control cannot be configured.
● The operation of POM4220 Highend and POM4220 Flexible is not possible.
