Mirroring Disks
Figure 3-3
shows a representation of the disk slots in the system, specifying the slot
number, the device IDs of the disk, and the virtual disk to which software assigns the
physical disk when you use RDR to mirror the disks. When you use RDR to mirror disks
in these systems, software pairs the disks as shown by the lines in
use a disk-management tool to create volumes, use this same scheme to mirror the
volumes on the disks.
Figure 3-3
shows the disk numbers and their corresponding slot numbers and the
device ID for slot 2, in I/O element 10, and for disk 1 in slot 2 of I/O element 10.

1. Open Disk Management: Right-click My Computer and click Manage. Then
expand Computer Management and Storage, and click Disk Management.
2. In the lower portion of the details pane, right-click the icon of the target disk.
3. Select Convert to Basic Disk.

C A U T I O N
Converting a dynamic disk to a basic disk removes all
data from the disk. So that you can recover the data, back
it up before you convert the disk to a basic disk.
