To verify the BIOS version numbers
1. On the desktop, double-click ftServer Management Tools.
2. Expand ftServer for the system you are updating, typically ftServer (Local), then
expand ftServer CPU Enclosures and click CPU Enclosure - 0.
3. In the details pane, note the value next to BIOS: Version.
For example, BIOS: Version Express5800/320Ma BIOS Version
1.0:088 indicates a 1.0.088 version of the BIOS.
4. Click CPU Enclosure - 1 or CPU Enclosure - 2. Note the value next to BIOS:
Version.
Compare the current BIOS version to the version of the file you are upgrading to.

To update the BIOS
Perform the following steps to remove a single CPU element from service and update
its BIOS, then bring the disabled CPU element online, and enable the system to update
the other CPU element.
1. Copy the BIOS firmware file for your system, as specified in
to the following folder:
%ProgramFiles%\Stratus\Firmware\BIOS\ftServer
2. On the desktop, double-click ftServer Management Tools.
3. Expand ftServer for the system you are updating, typically ftServer (Local).
4. Expand ftServer CPU Enclosures, if necessary, to show the list of CPU
enclosures (which represent CPU elements).
5. For each ftServer CPU Enclosure node, make sure that the value of
Op State:State in the details pane is Duplex. Do not update the BIOS if the
value is Simplex.
6. Right-click CPU Enclosure - 0 and click Initiate Bringdown. Click Yes when a
message asks whether you are sure you want to shut down the device.
The following message appears, indicating that the system is taking the enclosure
offline:
The operation completed successfully.
