Preparing to Update Firmware

Before you update firmware on your system, observe the following:
•
In ftServer Management Console (ftSMC), make sure that all CPU and I/O
elements on the system are functional.
•
In general, update system components in the following order:
1. Virtual Technician Module (VTM) firmware, if the system contains VTMs
2. BIOS
If the BIOS is corrupted, contact NEC Technical Support.
3. BMC firmware
4. Express5800/320Ma software

Updating VTM Firmware

Not all systems contain VTMs. To determine whether the system has VTMs,
double-click ftServer Management Tools, expand ftServer for the system, then
expand ftServer I/O enclosures and I/O Enclosure - 10.
If VTM Adapter - 3 or VTM Adapter - 4 is listed, the system contains VTMs.
